Samsung SDI: Global Talent Acquisition in North America
A First Step Toward a Sustainable Future through Innovation
Samsung SDI is making significant strides in its quest to recruit top-tier talent from North America, focusing on individuals with master’s and doctoral degrees. On December 3rd, local time, the company hosted its first ‘Tech & Career Forum’ at the Hyatt Regency Cambridge Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts. This event is part of a broader strategy to secure exceptional talent that can drive the company’s technological advancements and innovation.
Event Highlights
The ‘Tech & Career Forum’ serves as a recruitment event where senior management from Samsung SDI engages directly with potential candidates. Boston is particularly significant for Samsung SDI as it is home to the company’s first U.S. research institute, SDI R&D America (SDIRA). This facility plays a crucial role in ongoing research and development in battery innovation technologies and next-generation batteries.
The event was attended by key executives, including Choi Yoon-ho, President and CEO of Samsung SDI, Kim Yoon-chang, Vice President and Head of the Research Institute, and Ahn Jae-woo, Vice President of the People Team. Approximately 90 attendees, primarily from leading universities and research institutions across North America, were invited to participate.
Engaging Programming
The forum featured a variety of engaging programming designed to facilitate interaction between attendees and Samsung SDI leadership. One highlight was the ‘Vision Talk,’ where Choi Yoon-ho emphasized the importance of investing in talent to achieve Samsung SDI’s vision of creating a sustainable and eco-friendly future through exceptional technological capabilities.
In addition, keynote speeches from the head of the research institute and technology sessions focused on different business sectors, including medium and large batteries, small batteries, electronic materials, and next-generation technologies. Doctorate-holding executives presented the latest technological trends and discussed future advancements. Attendees had the opportunity to select their preferred topics and engage in lively question-and-answer sessions with presenters.
To enhance understanding of the company’s technology, a designated exhibition space at the event showcased key products, such as solid-state batteries, allowing participants to explore Samsung SDI’s innovative capabilities in-depth.
Future Plans for Talent Acquisition
Looking ahead, Samsung SDI plans to expand its talent acquisition efforts. The company will host additional ‘Tech & Career Forums’ later this year in August in South Korea and in October in Europe, as part of its comprehensive strategy to attract exceptional talent globally.
Choi Yoon-ho stated, ‘To secure our ‘super-gap technology competitiveness,’ the most important and necessary investment is in talent. Let’s work together towards the vision of making Samsung SDI a global top-tier company by 2030.’
